so we went kung fu fiiigh ting….

It started of learning movements and then how the movements helped with self defence.

So far, so good.

At the end there were exercises.

One was crouching, then putting your hands on the floor, then moving your right leg over to the left, whilst crouching and then the same with the other leg.

In our case it was dragging the leg over the other side, if you can!

The others made it look so easy.  They did it twenty times.

I was lucky if I managed to drag my legs maybe six times!  lol

Wow, we have a ways to go to get that one sorted.

I can feel some muscles that clearly havent been used before for quite some time, if at all!.

So we will do the months trial and see how we go.

It will be great for our fitness!

Has anyone else done any kung fu or other martial art?

  1. Try to find a Muay Thai or Krav Maga school. Don’t fall for one that blends MT or Krav with other shit. If they teach anything other than Krav or Muay Thai in the class, GTFO. MT fighters are relentless and brutal; Krav Maga is more of a self defense “art” with a focus on escaping. I am not a fan of most of the traditional arts that teach point sparring (you stop and start over when a point is scored) or punching from the waist. Both MT and Krav will have a dramatic effect on your personal conditioning. MT is probably better to start with because the instruction you get on punching, kicking, knees and elbows is vastly more technical than what you get with 99% of the Krav coaches. After 8 years of the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, the only people I couldnt handle in a fight were the MT fighters. Let me know if you find a school youd like to check out and I can do some research for you about whether or not they’re a good place to train.
